Sadaqa Qurbani: Give on Behalf of Those Who Cannot Afford It
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sacrificed an animal on behalf of every member of his Ummah who was unable to give Qurbani. This is one of the most moving acts recorded in the Sunnah. He did not wait to be asked. He gave the sacrifice for those who had nothing to give.
ضَحَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِكَبْشَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَالآخَرُ عَمَّنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَبَرَسُولِهِ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ “The Prophet (PBUH) sacrificed two rams, one on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and the other on behalf of whoever from his Ummah bore witness to the Oneness of Allah.” Tabarani and Ahmad
Sadaqa Qurbani is the act of giving a voluntary Qurbani, over and above your own obligatory sacrifice, on behalf of those who cannot afford to give their own. It is the revival of a prophetic practice that is rarely performed today but carries immense reward.
Who Is Sadaqa Qurbani For?
Sadaqa Qurbani is for anyone who wants to extend the blessing of Eid al-Adha to families who would otherwise spend the day without meat. Our Sadaqa Qurbani goes directly to:
- Orphans in Pakistan who have no family to give Qurbani on their behalf
- Widows and single-parent households who cannot afford the Nisab requirement
- Elderly and disabled families on the margins of the communities we serve
- Families displaced by poverty who have not eaten meat in months
A family who receives Sadaqa Qurbani meat on Eid al-Adha knows that somewhere, a Muslim who does not know them by name thought of them and gave for their joy. That is the spirit of this act.
How to Book Sadaqa Qurbani
On QurbaniForUnity.com, Sadaqa Qurbani starts from $165 for a cow share. You can give any amount from a single share upward. Select the Sadaqa Qurbani option in our shop, choose your contribution level, and confirm your niyyah: either in your own name as the giver, or as a gift in someone else’s name.
You will receive a Sadaqa Qurbani impact certificate confirming the amount contributed, the number of families it reached, and the region of distribution. If you selected the Named Bag option, the bag will carry your name or the name of the person you are giving on behalf of.
Sadaqa Qurbani as a Gift
Sadaqa Qurbani makes a deeply meaningful Islamic gift. Give it on behalf of a parent for a birthday or anniversary. Give it as a wedding gift, a new baby gift, or in memory of someone who has passed. The recipient receives a certificate in their name, documenting an act of worship that was given as a gift of love.

Does Sadaqa Qurbani fulfil my personal Qurbani obligation? No. Sadaqa Qurbani is a voluntary additional act, separate from your personal obligatory Qurbani. If you are eligible for Qurbani in the Hanafi sense (wajib) or as Sunnah Muakkadah in other schools, you must still give your personal Qurbani separately. Sadaqa Qurbani is given in addition to your own.
Can I give Sadaqa Qurbani at any time of year? Sadaqa Qurbani in the form of sacrificing an animal carries the full reward when performed in the Qurbani window of Eid al-Adha. Outside this window, it becomes a regular Sadaqa sacrifice (non-Qurbani zabiha), which is valid but does not carry the specific reward of Eid Qurbani.
